Peep Thru The Keyhole    IMG_0317

Peek thru the keyhole. What emerges on the other side is your home (or room) at the luxurious St Regis Hotel and Residences. When the original St Regis was opened in New York  in 1904 by John Jacob Aster IV, a new era of parties and pampering for the “social set” emerged. Purchased by Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 1999, this elegant brand epitomizes the idea that when you stay at a St Regis you are staying in someone’s private home. Imagine having a “residence” in exotic locations like Abu Dhabi, Mauritius, Bangkok & Bali. Be loser to home in Deer Valley and Bal Harbour. Home never felt like this!

Does being married or single influence Where2Stay? Location, cost, size & child friendly all play a part. Do you want your hotel, hip & modern with sexy dark lounges, a DJ spinning “singles” on the roof? Or do you prefer a quiet, elegant & romantic hotel? Sometimes you might want to “marry” the two which is the hardest to find. You will see an (married), (Single), or an MS (married/single) next to each hotel.

A Perfect Arrangement  A St Regis Good Time

Wear2Stay

St. Regis San Francisco – located in the heart of SoMa in San Francisco the St. Regis is the #1 ranked hotel for both business & pleasure. Walk in the lobby and you can see why. A newly renovated lobby,  leads to a crystal and pale grey bar with a state of the art fireplace will make you want to put on that cocktail dress. Always crowded, buzzy and happening, ideal for cocktails and a light supper. Comfortable modern rooms, great location and service makes this a perfect city hotel. Ideal for (M/S)

Lifestyle at the St Regis Hotel & Residences – Residences enjoyed a cocktail event featuring Pahlmeyer wines, accompanied by hors d’oeuvres furnished by Michelin Star Ame Restaurant with music supplied by Nicolas Bryce strumming flamenco on his 12 string guitar.

Jayson Pahlmeyer & Sandy Mandel    Sonya Molodetskaya & Rada Katz

Jayson Pahlmeyer not only stole the event with his generous donation of wine from his Pahlmeyer Winery  but also with his jacket which everyone coveted. (Men & women alike!) Though the winery is not open to the public you can become a preferred member of his wine club. Sonya Molodetskaya (with friend Rada Katz) looked like they stepped out of Bay Fashion Magazine.

Nicolas Brice Flamenco Guitarist    Iconic Wine

After the party everyone went into the hotel to feast on sushi at Ame and cocktails in the bar. For the overindulged, Remède Spa is only an elevator ride away.

It is so easy to lose your head at the St Regis!  What a way to go! Follow Wear2Where for more travel escapes.

Do you want the shoe so badly you have to make it fit? How many shoe pads are too many, how many times can you stretch them? Can you only wear them into the restaurant, not out?

Cinderella had Prince Charming. We have Jimmy, Louie and Manolo. Highheels make our legs look longer, our butt higher, our clothes sexier. What’s your pain threshold? A recent survey showed 42% of women admitted they would wear shoes that hurt. We need to look good while sitting on that bar stool! And what do you think the drinks are for…numbing the pain!

Shoes have a history. From protection against hazardous weather, to diminutive Catherine de Medici wanting to appear taller & larger than life, shoes signify class, gender & sophistication.

Fit First

  • Platform: takes the pressure off your toes and ball of your feet. Since Sandy chose form over function, she added this platform so as not to kill herself.

  • Wedge: heel runs under the foot evenly providing balance & support

  • Boots: Come in skins, trimmed in fur, leopard, jewels, zippers, a staple in our wardrobe. We think of boots as an investment. Would you rather have stock or boots?

Fit or Fracture

A little secret…I can’t wear five inch heels. I have a foot issue that screams no, don’t do it! So what’s a 5’2 inch girl to do. We have shoe choices. Designers like Paul Green, Thierry Rabotin, Aerosole & Easy Spirit provide comfort & style. Also flat jewel sandals are the rage for summer.

Notice the neutral nail polish perfect for long trips, can’t see the chips…love OPI Tickle My France-y

Wear Girls Shoe Fix?

  • Shoe Craft: stumbled on this tiny sliver of a store next to a massage parlor near the tunnel at 441 Stockton St. Easy to miss. Reasonable for  basic needs – shoe stretching, adding protective soles and replacing heels  usually while you wait. A true value!
  • Carlos Shoe Service:  We love Carlos. Ask Sandy, she has encouraged him to do anything from making a shoe into a platform or shortening the heel so she can walk.  243 Third St
  • Sole Survivor: If we insist on pain make Dr. Scholl your new BFF. Cut pads, add gel inserts, use moleskin plus padding and whatever else they sell. Look for their new “Fast Flats Foldable,” a ballet flat so pliable you can roll them up in your purse to get somewhere fast, can’t  always run in those heels. Should own stock and a reserved parking space!

Wear Girls: Size Matters?

Carry your heels in our Wear2Where bag to any destination & do a quick switch. We always do this! Life is too short to wear tight shoes. So the question is, do you think it’s fashion first, comfort second or the reverse? You decide!!!
