Crystal Cruise – Travel

Europe, Travel

Why2Cruise – Unpack once! (doesn’t mean you can take everything you own). Sandy didn’t get that concept. Barb pondering how many black dresses will squeeze into her suitcase. Cruise staff anticipate your needs, relax poolside, sip champagne, see the gym (or not) dine at Nobu & LA Valentino all w/out stepping off the ship! Wake up in an exotic port w/out airplane hangover. Inaccessible places become accessible. The ultimate adult day camp!

How2Pack – Items not to forget (adapter, phone charger, favorite hair iron, flashlight, prescriptions (who wants to run around replacing these) & of course your favorite black dress.

Ship2Shore Tips– Do your homework. Get a Russian Visa (or you can’t tour independently), book the Talon Casino in St. Petersburg to channel your James Bond fantasies. Email ahead for lunch/dinner reservations when in port. Check with a travel agent to choose the port or starboard side of the ship.

For ship excursions, sign up early (they sell out) or hire a private guide in advance. Tour on your own, hire a cab, or rent a car to escape cruise port syndrome (be sure not to miss the ship!)

Rock It on a Crystal Cruise!

What2Eat-  Food is everywhere! Midnight buffets, food available 24/7.  Girls, we need to fit into that bikini & button those skinny jeans. Choose your poison. Dessert buffet or martinis?

Europe, Travel

CNN just named Bulgaria a top destination in 2011. Sofia, the capital is a surprise with European flair, mineral springs, a startling concentration of clubs, bars, beer pubs, (legal drinking age is 16!!!!!) and surprise- great shopping and cool local markets. Pick your area, dress appropriately (read more in our shopping category) and explore a new culture. Don’t forget – make time to visit one of 500 curative mineral springs, (after all a girls got to glow)

Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan 5 Star, lavish and luxurious, great central location. A restaurant called Stardust using crystal utensils, what can be bad. Just don’t drop your fork!

Grand Hotel Varna Resort and Spa–  Gorgeous seaside resort – lies on the Bulgarian Black Sea. Offering miles of beach, entertainers to fascinate your children. Can they babysit all night? Mojito in hand, lounge by the pool and casinos at night. Secret tip*** Varna is also the headquarters of the Bulgarian Navy! (single ladies the fleet is in) This destination keeps looking better.

Kempinski  Hotel Grand Arena Bansko– Reserve this new hotel in Bansko. THE ski resort nestled at the base of the Pirin Mountains. Book one of the suites with private balconies, enjoy their Japanese Restaurant, cozy up to a fire while the sun sets over the mountains.

Marina Grand Beach Hotel– Located on Golden Sands, sea view vistas, full service spa, sky, pool & lobby bar, disco and pastry shop. What else do you need? Desserts and Dancing & just need a hot date.

Captain Cook  Seafood Restaurant in Varna – fresh fish almost jumping out of the Black Sea. Pair your lobster or shrimp with some award winning Bulgarian produced wine

La Skara– In Varna, Sofia and Bansko, grill your own meal the way you like it. A unique take on the traditional Bulgarian taverns

Vitosha Boulevard– Strolling down this Sofia Street will satisfy all your shopping cravings. Along with La Perla, Bulgari and Versace, visit local design shops. Huge value!

Walk into any pharmacy and purchase soaps and body lotions with rose essence. Makes great souvenirs!
